乙二醇乙醚醋酸酯主要用于金属；家具喷漆的溶剂，刷涂漆用溶剂，还可用作保护性涂料；染料；树脂；皮革；油墨的溶剂，也可用于金属；玻璃等硬表面清洗剂的配方中，并可作化学试剂。二乙二醇乙醚醋酸酯主要作为乳胶漆的助聚结剂，由于本品有着优良的溶解性和缓慢的蒸发速度，因而在生产缓慢干燥的硝基纤维素漆；天然漆或喷漆工艺中，是十分理想的溶剂。
